2 Days Safari from Zanzibar to Tarangire and Ngorongoro

Safari Overview

Tarangire National Park is located in northern Tanzania, Manyara Region approximately 118 kilometers southwest of Arusha.

From Zanzibar, you will take a morning flight to Arusha Airport, followed by a scenic drive to the park, which typically takes about two hours.

Tarangire is renowned for its vast elephant herds, often seen roaming through its diverse landscapes.

The park is named after the Tarangire River, which is a vital water source for wildlife during the dry season.

This creates excellent game viewing opportunities as animals congregate around the riverbanks. Tarangire is also famous for its iconic baobab trees and picturesque savannahs.

The park experiences a tropical climate with distinct wet and dry seasons.

The dry season, from June to October, is the best time to visit as wildlife is more concentrated around water sources, making them easier to spot.

The wet season, from November to May, transforms the park into a lush, green landscape and is ideal for bird watching.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is situated in northern Tanzania, approximately 180 kilometers west of Arusha.

Following your overnight stay near Tarangire, you will embark on an early morning drive to Ngorongoro, which takes around three to four hours.

Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s most iconic natural wonders.

Formed millions of years ago, the crater is the world’s largest inactive volcanic caldera. It is renowned for its exceptional density of wildlife, including the Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and black rhino.

The crater’s unique ecosystem supports a diverse range of flora and fauna, making it a prime location for game drives.

Ngorongoro has a temperate climate due to its high altitude, with temperatures being cooler than the surrounding lowlands.
